bobbi ward

Bobi Ward began practising yoga in the 1980s while recovering from a fractured back after a serious car accident in Leicester, UK. Through gentle, mindful movement, she discovered yoga’s profound capacity to heal, strengthen, and restore both body and mind.

After moving to Australia, yoga became a steady foundation through the challenges and joys of raising a blended family of six children. With more than 26 years of teaching experience, Bobi has explored a range of yoga and meditation traditions, including Desikachar-inspired approaches, Dru Yoga, Tibetan Calm Abiding meditation, and the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Her classes emphasise flowing movement rather than fixed poses, encouraging students to work with the uniqueness of their own bodies. Bobi’s teaching supports physical freedom, mental quietness, and confidence in ageing well. She invites students to move consciously, listen deeply, and cultivate self-compassion both on and off the mat.

When people learn Bobi is a yoga instructor, they often say they can’t do yoga because they aren’t flexible. She replies that flexibility isn’t the requirement — regular movement is. Without moving your body and joints, stiffness  increases over time, limiting mobility and eventually affecting your ability to move independently.

Outside of yoga, Bobi enjoys spending time with her six grandchildren, lawn bowls, music, gardening, reading, creativity, and being in nature — the places where she feels most restored and inspired.
