I came to yoga about 25 years ago looking for a means of stress relief. After even the very first class I had a taste of what I was after so yoga classes became a regular thing. With more practice the results became more pronounced. Eventually after implementing a daily practice I became so impressed with the all round benefits of yoga that I decided I would like to share those benefits with others and that I would like to teach.
I asked my yoga teacher how she had become qualified and she said that she had done her teacher training through FriendsInYoga. I made enquiries and enrolled in their 2005 intake. With training throughout the year conducted at the ashram I really liked the feeling of the yoga hall and felt that I would like to teach there. In early 2006 on completion of the FINY course I was luckily offered a class at the Ashram.
I have taught continuously at the ashram ever since. Over the 20 plus years at the ashram I have taught a variety of classes from beginners to general and stronger intermediate classes, mostly at the 6.30pm Tuesday time slot. This has recently evolved to taking the 2.00pm Tuesday Community class, a class focused on general mobility and well being, with a friendly and welcoming bunch of regulars.
The class is by donation – generally $5.
